Fresh Green Juice for St Patrick’s Day

Green Juice Recipe

Happy St. Patrick’s Day all!

You may be expecting me to offer up the mixings for some sinful cocktail, complete with some decadent holiday spirits, but I’m going a different direction this St. Paddy’s Day. Don’t be mad.

Instead, I’m getting fresh.

Fresh, as in fruits and vegetables that is. Though this nutrient-packed little concoction also offers up some fresh sass too.

Perfect for a Monday after, possibly, some over indulgence during the weekend, this juice is going to get you back on track and will truly do your body good.

I know we don’t all have juicers, but they are a spot-on super investment if you can swing it. I use my little gem of a juicer, the BELLA NutriPro, pretty much everyday and it was one of the best things I’ve done for myself in recent history.

The great thing about juicing is that it is super simple. No pesky measuring or peeling. Pretty much just throwing a bunch of clean fruits and veggies in the juicer and watching it liquify before your eyes, blending together to form a beautiful refreshment just for you.

juice_CUTo make this (plus one more for whomever you want to delight) clover-colored glass of bliss, you will need…

JuiceIngred

  • 2-3 big handfuls of leafy greens (lettuce and kale here)
  • 1/2 a head of celery (approx 4 stalks)
  • 2 apples (these are Golden Delicious)
  • 1 kiwi
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 knob of fresh ginger
  • 1/4 lemon

Depending on your juicer, you may be able to just toss everything (except the lemon) in the juicer and go to town, but I chop my veggies and fruits up into chunks and alternate leafy items with crisp/crunchy items. No need to peel, skin or core anything (really).

GingerLemon

I leave the 1/4 lemon for last, cut off the rind, and squeeze it into the finished juice as a last touch.

The end result is a crisp, slightly sweet (thanks to the fruit), mild and bright emerald liquid with a little kick from the ginger, but a fresh bite thanks to the lemon.

Best if you can drink it immediately after juicing, but it will keep for up to an hour in a sealed bottle in the fridge.

There’s just one final thing to say…

“Cheers to all the jolly leprechauns and bottoms up!”

Hope everyone has a festive holiday!
