Weekend with my Valentine

Valentine Anniversary

Each year February rolls around, brings with it a handful of celebrations for the man and I. Not only do we have Valentine’s Day (as cliche as it is), but our dating anniversary follows quickly on its heels.

To ensure we don’t go crazy (and bankrupt) we’ve figured out a fair little deal.

He takes one celebration. I take the other. No big gifts, only experiences we do together.

This year he chose Valentine’s Day. Thankfully, he sprung on actually telling me his plans before the event (previous years it’s all been a big secret up until the day), so I knew what was in store. And I was delighted.

Finally, after years and years of wishing, I was going to see The Lion King musical!

Straz Center - ADOS

Showing right at our Tampa hot spot for all things musical, The Straz Center, N grabbed some of the last balcony tickets for one of the final nights of their Tampa run.

We snuggled into our balcony seats, bottles of bubbly in hand.

Toasting excitedly as people all around us buzzed prior to the lights dimming, we chatted about the beloved Disney movie and how we expected it to play out on stage.

Puppets, beautiful costumes and incredible music were a given.

What we experienced lived up to all the hype. It was a spectacular show that touched on all the best parts of the movie I loved so much as a child (and had a real hankering to watch again, suddenly).

We got home quite late that night and promptly crashed into our pillows.

The rest of the weekend was a blur of chocolate…

The Strawberry Champagne bar was amazing, but it was the Donuts and Coffee that came out as the real fave.

There were of course flowers, because I always love having some luscious blooms around the house.

I even brought out my aptly shaped sunnies on actual Valentine’s Day.

I prepped a product review that I’ll be sharing on the blog soon (likely later than I want due to some frustrating technical difficulties)…

And was surprised when N brought out a sweet little collection of things he thought I’d like, including one of my all time loves… hot chocolate.

All in all it was a successful weekend, bookmarked by some special treats from my love. What more could a girl ask for?
