Tampa’s Mini Doughnut Factory

Just in time for #NationalDoughnutDay, I’ve got the perfect spot for all your doughnut desires.

Though strip malls may not always hold hidden gems, there is a particular unassuming section which holds a relatively new tenant.

Open since late last year, the buzz around the Mini Doughnut Factory has not dimmed for good reason.

Bite sized little pieces of sweet goodness.

Because some things are really better in bite size. I firmly believe that doughnuts are one of those things.

All made with an old-school doughnut maker (also used to make my very favorite hot cider doughnuts up north), these soft cake doughnuts are made fresh every day.

Made and decorated to order each day by a small army of staff.

They dip, dunk, sprinkle, and perfect a variety of tasty combinations from their menu.

Depending on the day you go, you can get more than different toppings, as weekends offer up chocolate cake doughnuts with blueberry cake doughnuts (my absolute fave of the three) on offer on Sundays.

N and I went early in the morning to beat the crowds with the full intention of ordering a half dozen doughnuts and calling it quits. But then…

Intrigued by Doughnut Milkshake, listed at the bottom of the menu, I couldn’t help myself.

Topped with a plain doughnut and a heap of whip cream, and blended with actual doughnuts, it was by far the biggest surprise of our visit!

He tried to resist as long as possible…

But he caved in the end.

I didn’t mind since I was… preoccupied.

Bring these with you to your next early morning meeting, party, dinner or special event. Just be sure to go early, as the lines get long fast.

Find them at 2109 S Dale Mabry Hwy in Tampa.

And have a doughnut (or two) for me.
